Our Specialities
Each service is delivered with clinical precision and genuine care.
Sports Physiotherapy is a specialised service focused on the prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports- and exercise-related injuries. Whether you are a professional athlete, a recreational runner, or simply lead an active lifestyle, our evidence-based approach is designed to restore function, optimise performance, and reduce the risk of future injury.
Through comprehensive assessment, hands-on treatment, targeted rehabilitation, and performance-focused exercise programming, we address the underlying causes of pain and dysfunction rather than simply managing symptoms. Every treatment plan is tailored to the individual's sport, goals, and physical demands, helping clients return to activity safely, confidently, and at their highest potential.
Manual Therapy is a hands-on treatment approach used to assess and address pain, stiffness, movement restrictions, and musculoskeletal dysfunction. Through skilled techniques such as joint mobilisation, soft tissue release, muscle energy techniques, and movement-based interventions, our physiotherapists help restore mobility, reduce pain, and improve overall function.
Manual Therapy is integrated within a comprehensive treatment plan and combined with targeted exercise and rehabilitation strategies to achieve lasting results. By addressing the underlying causes of dysfunction, we help clients move more freely, recover more effectively, and return to the activities they enjoy with greater confidence and comfort.
Orthopaedic Rehabilitation is a specialised physiotherapy service designed to support recovery from musculoskeletal injuries, orthopaedic conditions, and surgical procedures. Whether recovering from a fracture, ligament injury, joint replacement, tendon repair, or chronic orthopaedic condition, our evidence-based rehabilitation programmes are tailored to restore strength, mobility, function, and confidence.
Through comprehensive assessment, progressive exercise prescription, hands-on treatment, and personalised recovery planning, we guide clients through every stage of rehabilitation. Our goal is not only to facilitate healing but also to optimise movement, prevent future injury, and help individuals return safely and efficiently to their daily activities, work, and sport.
Strapping and Taping is a supportive treatment technique used to protect injured tissues, enhance joint stability, reduce pain, and facilitate optimal movement during recovery and activity. Whether managing an acute injury, returning to sport, or seeking additional support during exercise, our physiotherapists apply evidence-based taping methods tailored to the individual's needs and goals.
Using a range of techniques, including rigid sports taping and kinesiology taping, we can help offload stressed structures, improve movement awareness, support rehabilitation, and reduce the risk of re-injury. Strapping and taping is often used alongside physiotherapy treatment and exercise rehabilitation to promote safe, effective recovery and performance.
Dry Needling is a specialised treatment technique used to relieve muscle tension, reduce pain, and improve movement by targeting myofascial trigger points and areas of muscular dysfunction. Using fine, sterile needles, our trained physiotherapists treat tight or overactive muscles to help restore normal muscle function and support the body's natural healing processes.
Dry Needling can be effective in the management of acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions, sports injuries, headaches, and movement-related pain. As part of a comprehensive physiotherapy approach, it is combined with hands-on treatment, exercise rehabilitation, and movement education to achieve lasting improvements in pain, mobility, and performance.
Our Home Visit Physiotherapy service brings expert care directly to you, providing the same high standard of assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation in the comfort and convenience of your own home. This service is ideal for individuals recovering from surgery or injury, those with mobility limitations, older adults, or anyone who prefers personalised care in a familiar environment.
Our physiotherapists conduct comprehensive assessments and develop tailored treatment plans to address pain, improve mobility, restore function, and support independence. By delivering treatment within your everyday environment, we can provide practical, goal-orientated rehabilitation that is relevant to your daily activities and designed to help you achieve meaningful, lasting results.
The People Behind Your Care
Martine Cohen graduated from the University of Cape Town with a BSc in Physiotherapy in 2006 and has close to two decades of clinical experience. With a special interest in sports injury management and post-operative orthopaedic rehabilitation, she is passionate about helping patients recover with confidence and return to optimal movement, function, and performance through evidence-based, patient-centred care.
As an accomplished ultra-marathon runner, Martine has completed three Comrades Marathons, eight Two Oceans Ultra Marathons, numerous local and international marathons, The Puffer ultra-trail race, and several multi-day trail stage races. Her personal experience as an endurance athlete gives her unique insight into the physical demands of sport and has fostered a particular interest in the prevention, assessment, and management of sports injuries, particularly running-related injuries.
With extensive experience treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, Martine takes a hands-on, goal-orientated approach to rehabilitation. She works closely with leading orthopaedic surgeons in Cape Town, guiding patients through orthopaedic pre- and post-operative rehabilitation programmes designed to restore function, rebuild strength, and facilitate a safe return to activity. By combining clinical expertise with a personalised approach, Martine helps patients achieve meaningful outcomes and long-term wellbeing.
Hester joined MyoHealth in 2024 and brings over 10 years of experience as a physiotherapist. After graduating from Stellenbosch University, she developed a particular interest in sports injuries, injury prevention, rehabilitation, fascial mobilisation, and Pilates-based movement assessment and analysis. Her additional qualifications include certification in Pilates instruction, dry needling, and fascial therapy.
Passionate about movement and exercise, Hester teaches matwork Pilates classes and enjoys helping people return to the activities they love, whether that is running, hiking, participating in sport, or simply moving more comfortably in everyday life. As an active runner and outdoor enthusiast, she understands both the physical and practical challenges that can accompany injury and rehabilitation.
Hester believes that effective physiotherapy begins with listening. By taking the time to understand each person's goals, lifestyle, and concerns, she develops individualised treatment plans tailored to their specific needs. Her collaborative, patient-centred approach focuses on finding realistic and effective solutions that help patients move well, recover confidently, and maintain an active, healthy lifestyle for the long term.
Claudia has been passionate about helping people for as long as she can remember. When she discovered physiotherapy, she knew it was the perfect career for her. Her approach to treatment is firmly patient-centred, with a focus on treating the whole person rather than simply addressing the injury. After spending a year working in the public healthcare sector, Claudia moved into private sports practice, where she has worked for the past five years. She is passionate about helping people move better, recover confidently, and return to the activities they enjoy.
Her special interests include sports injuries, orthopaedic rehabilitation, dry needling, and holistic healing. Claudia takes a comprehensive approach to injury management, exploring the various factors that may contribute to pain or dysfunction, including lifestyle habits, stress, training load, overtraining, and movement patterns. By identifying and addressing these contributing factors, she helps patients achieve lasting recovery, improved performance, and overall wellbeing.
Committed to providing personalised care, Claudia takes the time to understand each patient's goals, challenges, and lifestyle. She believes that successful rehabilitation is built on collaboration, education, and empowering patients with the tools they need to move confidently and maintain long-term health.

Voices From Our Patients
"I went to several different physios for post-partum recovery and so happy I finally found Hester. She expertly isolated the muscle groups that were at the root of the pain issue. She has a deep understanding of how everything in the body is linked and how to use specific exercises to strengthen and rehabilitate. I felt so much better after each session with Hester. I'm incredibly grateful for how much she invested in my recovery journey! She's a gem. Great sense of humor too."
"Martine is the only physiotherapist who has been able to accurately diagnose and effectively treat me. As a fellow runner, she truly understands the importance of staying active and has tailored my treatment to support my running goals. I can't recommend her highly enough!"

After a severe dislocation of my right shoulder that tore my supraspinatus infraspinatus and labrum, both Hester and Martine have provided excellent physio helping me to extend movement and build strength in my arm and shoulder. Always up to date on the latest treatments and approaches as well as being as brutal as they can be without risking setting you back.

Martine is great, she's a trail runner herself and understands that getting back to exercise quickly is an imperative and will work with you to achieve your goals. One of the best I've been to and being an idiot means I have seen a lot! Thanks for sorting my hip and knee!"
